You wrote such a compelling essay and I’m shaken by the reminder and image and it’s disgusting that we as a society tolerate it in so many parts of the world. Recently my husband showed me a video of a woman beating a baby—I couldn’t the second it opened. And I have no idea how anyone could record that and not step in to save that child. It messed me up looking at it for a few seconds—but the trauma that it has caused for years to come? Ugh.
