Yes, it is. I see many articles that deserve so much more love than they receive.
I'm going to go on a limb and share a theory of mine. I may be totally wrong - so take it with a grain of salt.
Medium readers want to chill out. They want to not work too hard and want something to feed either an emotional need or pick me up.
Articles/essays that offer a lot of meat mean - the reader has to have not only the time but desire to take the time and really digest the articles that have a lot of research in them.
From all the messages I keep reading from the "powers that be" on Medium - you know what keeps hitting me in the face?
personal stories.
Medium wants us to leverage what we know from experience or skill or knowledge coupled with telling it in an engaging way - yet not too complicated - and they reward you.
Now from time to time, there are hot-button issues that either arise from "timing" (an event that recently happened and somehow connects to your life or talks about it in a relevant way) or from it being controversial and sharing the connection.
I think the latter is often abused here in Medium - because the writer is "chasing" the topic...rather than letting the topic be born out of the desire to want to share a relevant or unique message.
Write stories where you feel the passion - and those are rewarded. Not always. Passion is subjective, I suppose.
Anyhow - want to encourage you - I enjoy your stories.
Thanks for reading and sharing your experience with me. We all have a lot to learn on this platform and it's not easy. I'm glad you are here!
