๐๐...WOW. Now that's some BS...
we need to stop enforcing this idea that the only way to move forward is with a college degree, yes, it's wonderful -- but as expensive and hard as it is, why not wait until
a) you actually know what you want to study
b) you're ready and want it
c) you got the entire party socialization out of your system and you understand how to balance having fun with the rigor of college
Many are able to do this and do well. Many drop out - and are then strapped with thousands in debt. It's a tragic and devastating reality - but the thing is: they hear the saying: you have a better chance of succeeding in life with a college degree.
At that point, the whole philosophy of who determines what is success - would send that conversation in a million directions.
Education needs an entire "upgrade" - and it starts from the bottom. We know so much more; what our kids are learning will be used in a completely different world from our immediate past.
ugh - it's a complex issue.
Nonetheless, democracy and progress won't exist without an educated populace.
We can't just throw up our hands - it's vital for democracy. But we need everyone on board to AGREE education is messed up and come together for solutions.
