What specific writing routine do you stick to?

When I first arrived, I thought it was realistic to publish three times a week.

It was not.

I actually pushed myself and for the most part published at least twice a week for the first 6-8 months...

I then removed that pressure and it became twice a week...which I continued to fail at.

How did you discover your current approach?

I engage and read a lot. I am choosy as to what I publish. I don't treat Medium like a blog - but recognize many do and I read many blog-like articles and genuinely enjoy them - and not others.

It's just not for me. So I decided that the process of writing matters a lot more to me and while my articles stayed longer at the top of my profile (I do not pin) - it gets a lot of reads. So there was no need to rush.

Additionally, I've loved giving myself a few days to polish and work on a title. Editing and finding a good title takes time.

If I ever skip or rush that - I lose an opportunity to grow. It's the hardest and often the least fun time - but that's where the magic is.

Do you feel this is the absolute best system for you?

Now that I've returned to work - publishing once a week will be a challenge but one I am trying to be better at and letting go of perfection.

For me - yep this works.

And love what your other article said:

may we each focus on our personal jou"pave with purpose not comparison"

Keep writing!
