What a powerful reflection May; it made me think of my days being utterly annoyed by getting a packed lunch, or to later in high school when we who brought the lunch were the less fortunate ones, because everyone else who had money bought their lunch…(once in awhile we got the treat for a paid Friday meal)…
Schools outside of the US are different—
But this story took me to my one year teaching middle school—99% free and reduced lunch population. Was a tough year and I couldn’t help but wonder how are my students now doing??
What the supervisor said to you is what the traditional Republican mindset utters that gets under my skin…
You are wise and kind to give her the benefit of the doubt as an adult now and you are right—we often (myself included) snap out of anger and say the worst things that can hurt others unnecessarily.
