This was such a fascinating read, Conni. I don't recall the name, but thought it was some kind of "masonry" society where the men wore those red "pointy" hats. -- I've always wondered what they are about - but I suppose as this one, they are secret societies.

When these groups do not disclose who and what they are about, red flags go up for me. But, you provided a candid and honorable description of what this group was to your mother and the generations before. Your piece opened my heart to be more open and respectful to perhaps circumstances I'm simply unaware of.
