This is one of those pieces I wish I could sit and talk to you in person for hours about - and sadly, I'm not good with words nor feel this place is the right place for my genuine thoughts.

As all have said - you did this great justice, and you make me want to have a different point of view than I have. You make me hope for the world you live in your marriage and family.

I can't tell you how much I loved what you shared in the end - and more than anything, your dad would be touched that you understood/heard him - and think about him as you do. Isn't that what we want from our kids - that they just would "get it?!" - at some point?
