Lately, I’ve read articles and comments from several writers frustrated with the “quality of writing” on Medium. I don’t know if it’s purely anecdotal or whether there actually is a “large” amount of these articles and comments filled with these generalized complaints.

I did a search of stories or topics related to “quality of writing” in Medium, and the results were scattered over the years. So could it be my selective memory at work? Perhaps.

The conversations I’ve read over the past two months had me questioning

1. my place in Medium among the well-versed

2. how is the quality of writing measured?

3. what are the implications of whether one or more readers decide there are some or many poorly written articles on Medium today?

As a new writer, I recognize that my writing ability is not on par with the skill of an author who has written for decades or even one year. Publishing articles on Medium will not make me famous nor elevate me to a position of glory overnight or…
