THIS HAPPENED TO ME ⎟LIFE LESSONS
The First Delay Was Rewarding While the Second Was Punishing
I learned these five lessons while almost missing my first and connecting flights
I should have packed days earlier — but I had not. I tucked my shoes into my hand luggage just after midnight and set my alarm for 5:30 am. We planned to leave home at 6:30 am in order to make our 10 am flight to Houston, an international flight.
Mexico requires residents (as their citizens) to make a special stop prior to international travel at their immigration office for a special check-in and stamp on one’s passport. All was going to plan right up until that moment when my guy notices he cannot find his Mexican green ID card — and without that card, no stamp means not leaving, as we would not be allowed back into the country without it.
Lesson 1. We are all human and at times make the dumbest mistakes we think only others make.
I’ve never seen him make such a rookie mistake. He always double-checks necessary documentation when traveling. I calmly stood in silence witnessing before me a humbling mistake I think we all should make from time to time to realize — mistakes happen. Roll with them!
