I can see what you're saying; it's still hard for me to place them side by side.

YOu made it clearer hearing you say you didn't cry for your parents but did with your pets -- it reminds me how we do experience relationships very differently and I need to be mindful and respectful.

I grew up with four dogs throughout my childhood -- we all cried when they passed away; I had to give up the one I had before having kids, and so I completely do get the "gaping hole"...So I'm definitely not the ones who are anti-pets ;-)
