Susan, from the way you write these comments - I can see the original "pen pal" sharing your stories and that absolutely wonderful connection it was to receive a letter! I went through so many about 2-3 months ago - and was surprised to see some friends that I never recalled who wrote and the circumstances under which we wrote--oh, and the details! Oh my goodness, we are losing key aspects of human touch and connection and we so desperately need to incorporate those again. I suppose this way in Medium is one such way - and maybe that's why so many of us hang onto this place so much. I feel that is the case for me.

I can't believe the different letters you have! Susan take pictures of them and write the stories behind them - I loved reading about each! I'm quite surprised how well so many of my letters are (I kept them in a plastic bin and then in zip lock bags) -- but I've moved at least 6 times and some open to a crisp! I hope my sons or grands or great-grands read through them and gain some appreciation for how things "used to be."
