Sure!..Mexico! ;-)

What's interesting having grown up in Venezuela, then having lived in the US for 30+ years - is that I left the US so frustrated by its recent "hate" rhetoric - so when people here find it surprising that I'm here (they all see the US as they shining star that they wish they could live in...and by all means, there is a lot of positives of the US) - I typically say, "but consider..." - and I share challenges and negatives they are unaware of.

I don't want to be anti-US, but I absolutely need them to have a balanced view. Too many immigrants arrive in the US stunned and then go through a lot of trauma when they arrive and realize what it all entails. I get it: many get there out of desperation, so something difficult is better than living in a country with no future. But the reality is many in Central America believe once you get in the US - life is rosy. I would say even those who immigrate to the US from middle to higher class levels also run into shock; I have two recent friends who immigrated to the US and I have wanted to interview them and write about it.

Okay - this has turned out much longer - sorry! But yeah I wanted to share how much I've changed and what the recent changes in the US did to people like myself. I have met other expats here in Mexico who feel just like I do - many are minorities. 45 and his cronies left a lasting impact on the US that will be felt for years to come...

Thanks for asking and for the reflection. ;-)
