Sorry - I don't follow.

I don't think the author implied he was better, and I certainly didn't either (I correct that if that's what you understood).

And I disagree, I wouldn't insult him and say he's disgusting.

He's human - we all make mistakes...and as much as we love Martha and hate that she's in pain, all of us do hurt the ones we love at some point or another (yes some more than others --)...but I can't place myself any higher than another because I think I would "never do that."

This is her memoir - we know nothing of him and his story. My admiration and care for Martha and getting to know her is where I begin and end when I read her stories along with the lessons she teaches on coping, learning, and living.

I learned early on in marriage -- it's far too easy to judge others from the outside. We should hold judgment as often as possible.

Until we live within the confines of the exact marriage described, we will never understand what each feels and what each lived. We can try - but that's the extent of it.

I greatly admire Martha - I applaud her for sharing her story and she is living her own journey.
