Shashiii!!! How are you? Okay - are you ready for the lengthy reply? 🤭😉..happy to share, and as always - thanks for your loving interest and help.
If it wasn't for the sincere support from friends like you - I wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn and help solve my puzzle. It's the solution for now - for this foreseeable future...and then like the big constant of life - it will change no doubt! 😌
When I first thought about my audience, I pictured careers, demographics...I imagined a very narrow window. I read a lot from Medium staff and the powers that be that we had to "experts."
Well, that meant: my field of expertise is mathematics - and teaching! So I immediately said, "Aw, well I guess I need to be writing to teachers and students!" I've had a few ideas of pieces to write about that - in fact, I can write so many. But then, the Medium audience readers - all of you, who were taking the time to read - finished schooling! Awhile back! LOL - and not only that, but you certainly were NOT thinking about teaching or learning more math! I think most are glad they are done with the few they took - that most are happy to have forgotten!
So, that's why my puzzle was even more muddied.
To answer your question, I literally thought about someone I am comfortable sitting across from me without a face or name and what are their minds and hearts like.
I wrote five bullets. Here are three:
* Any socially-ready, open-minded individual who is willing to look at their life and understand there is more than one way to live life - and we can learn from those who are different.
* Anyone wanting to understand that living with empathy changes hearts and makes this world a better place
* Reflective individuals, those who take the time to read because they want to be better humans, because they want to understand the world about them, and desire to engage.
And yes you are 100% in those. It brings me some peace that I don't have to come to the table with my pieces seeking to draw believers or correct or sway - I just want to engage. I want to learn more about this beautiful thing we call life that is complex and yet magnificent in ways we each learn more about it day after day after day.
Only but a handful of my family and friends know I write - and I don't share my link. I think the reason I don't want them in my audience is that I want to be transparent in my writing. And the truth is, I 100% know I would change how and what I say in some pieces if I knew certain people would read (perhaps over-explaining or taking out words that they would find offensive or ...I don't know ) - but I've learned:
Once I put strong controls on what and how I say: it's filtered just as those fake filters that show us pictures of our family and friends that we so know: it is NOT them - in real life - when we see them in person!
The wrinkles, age, and sagging skin of my writing HAVE to show up - I want it to show. For now, I can't with most of them looking. If they find and want to read, no problem. I have nothing to hide. I write knowing anyone can and may read at some point. But I don't need them in my head - sitting across from me - when I write.
So when I wrote those bullets, I needed to create my friend - and how they read - so that I'm reminded why I can be myself.
Make sense?
Sorry - see!? You're going to have to be careful when you ask me questions, as I seldom have a short answer. But I'm getting there - writing is teaching me to be brief! LOL - but not here, sorry - this comment is going as is! 😬😬😂
Much love to you Shashi -- and if this gets you thinking and you have a long response - write it and tag me! I miss your writing - but heading to find an oldie! ;-)
Hope you and family --are safe and well! Big hug!
