Personally, i feel that's just an indication that the one doing the tugging and pulling is confused or has no desire nor idea what commitment is, or enjoys the convenience of the pull and when he/she is done, enjoys the push.

If both enjoy and do it and both accept -- then great, theyve met their match.

It's incredibly sad when one doesn't want to play tug-of-war and one does; the one yearning to be pulled looks like a yo-yo played by the other and it looks incredibly dismissive and nothing like love should feel nor look like....IMHO.
