Oh Susan - what a touching and generous comment. Thank you for the time taken to read and share such an encouraging response. Please know it's greatly appreciated. BTW - I think that's excellent that a governor notices something needs to be done...but in my opinion -- more education will not solve his problem.
They (public school teachers) need more time to prepare for classes, support to not have to handle and fill out unnecessary paperwork and endless hours of professional developments -- and smaller classes.
Teachers in general will meet with other teachers and seek out the resources to help grow...but many teachers are strangled by restrictions, and administrations that don't believe or trust in their capabilities.
Teachers have so many responsibilities and such little time to prepare and breathe - it's quite insane that any of them have lives outside of a classroom or that they get anything done for themselves.
Anyhow - enough of that.
