Oh Michele, what a touching essay; I can tell you that even though I didn’t have a chemical dependence I definitely made mistakes with my sons, and your tenderness, raw honesty, authentic presence in their life in these last years and moving forward is more than likely better that 20 of a parent who had no dependence but simply didn’t reflect upon how important parenthood is.
