This is the aspect of American culture - I never understood...I was always the one welcoming the other foreigners in our department to sit with me; either their accent or their quietness or just "difference" always made it difficult for them to assimilate.
I'm away -- and your writing made me feel for Prima...whom I left behind and who I know the department always just left to herself. Your writing will encourage me tomorrow to find her email and send her a note.
I applaud you that you found your spot and being there for Morrie. Thanks for sharing this story -- it's important to read no matter the age.
