Oh Christine, this sounds complex and hurtful. I’m sorry to have read this….and with what happened recently, I now understand a bit about the “slight.”

You know what I told my husband: how it was stated made the difference.

Had she told me: “we want to respect the wishes. But wanted to share if it’s not too sentimental, do you mind giving it up” maybe it would have felt better??….

Ugh. Maybe it’s best we give it all while we are alive—but most of us don’t know when it’s happening right? 😶😞
