It’s so incredibly disturbing and maddening to me how hateful it is, it’s one of many reasons I couldn’t live in those African nations—the disdain is far too strong for me. It’s a level of archaic thinking hard for me to stomach in 2023: I feel so badly for all the LGBTQ humans in Africa who live under such shame, mental illness, depression and lives of deception.
The fact that any human can dictate to another whom they can love is fundamentally wrong and I have no problems being vocal in Africa or wherever I am.
If degrading humans for the color of their skin is wrong—how is it also no degrading for their sexuality?
Again—toxic religious circles are unfortunately the ones who perpetuate division and hate.
Sorry I got carried away—but it’s hard to read this article and not get emotionally upset.
I can’t even imagine how triggering it must be for any LGBTQ person to read this—
I understand you’re just offering a display of what’s in your country and appreciate you learning to support them. It gives one hope for a more inclusive Africa someday.
What a long road lies ahead 🫤😔
