I’m sorry you feel a loss. I hope it’s been a learning lesson for you of whom you’re calling “friends.”

Years ago we would tell our family in Nigeria or Venezuela (from both my husband and my side or the family) of how difficult it is to “make it” in America….there was always a distrust in their eyes.

Now it’s MUCH harsher. Your friend is incredibly ignorant to not even be aware that this year with rising inflation —and overpowering xenophobia sentiment that’s quite rampant in many parts of the world—to not take the time and listen to someone who has been there.

Sadly they think “since we’ve had the chance to be there perhaps we don’t want them to enjoy it.”

I’ve learned to be very measured with whom I share my deepest sentiments about the US but sometimes it’s hard to.

You’re not wrong in your assessment and you did all you could to forewarn him.

Let the chips fall where they may.
Peace to you—you got rid of someone who brought you little good from what I could gather.

Keep safe.
