I’m in agreement with you and most—the fact that it’s for 50 AND has to go through a pre-approval process means she gets to put the place—which is the Easiest part of hosting and then has everyone do the hard lifting and they take their dishes (win for host who has not dishwashing now to do) —

Pot luck is for small intimate groups with people you know well and even so—I’ve never asked anyone to bring anything.
