IF—I loved this story and feel honored that you both allowed us the privilege to read it. This is why I love Medium—

Bill, I couldn’t help but have a lump in my throat when I got near the end of your letter and then the dam broke and the tears poured. Your love and admiration for your baby brother is palpable and there’s no doubt you carried that weight for far too long.

As a mother, I live at times with “what if’s” and there’s one accusation one time done to me that is far too complex and long to explain that made me feel I was the cause of a “problem” my child faces and it cuts to the core. I’ve healed since and yet—there are still instances in our children’s lives where you can’t help but wonder: what if I had done XYZ.

Truth is: none of us are exempt from wondering and none of us can control all the random events that occur to us and our loved ones.

Thanks for opening your heart and sharing this story—it touched me deeply. It’s a story of a love of brothers and love and pain and triumph —I’ll never forget this.

Thank you Terry for posting. 💞💞💞
