I think thankfully it’s going away. It needs to and yet, while I used to “somewhat worship” the institution of marriage…I don’t anymore, and I love marriage and my own. I just think by calling it an institution we bring with it expectations that aren’t based on reality, and we don’t help young people truly build and understand what it takes to be a lifetime loving and respectful partner. That should come first….then we can talk about marriage.

One can easily see these days…almost no one gets married and they are taking longer to decide. Maybe that’s a good thing?

So many societal changes…but I agree, divorce is more the norm even among my friends and family. It’s sad for the truly hurtful and and traumatic experience it is for many.
