😊I smiled throughout this post; I don’t think I’ve ever, no I have very oddly, heard my husband and mother curse. I have many friends who are that way, and many others who are not.
I used to be like you, but there was a time I was around cursing so much it did spill into me.
I don’t really curse, but when I do—in Spanish, I’ll tell you it has nothing to do with a choosing one way instead of another, it’s an emotion, plain and simple.
I choose my audience and am very much aware that for folks like my mom or yourself, it’s jarring and have little tolerance for it.
I grew up in a culture too where curse words almost have an entire dictionary to them, where we can take one and make it a noun, verb, adjective and I’ll be completely transparent—it is FUNNY. We don’t see as vulgar language…which brings me to:
Often what is said not often received with the same intention.
For those of us in the part of the Venn diagram where we see those who do and don’t, I see it as a matter of where and with whom.
Thanks for sharing and listening….
