I found myself months ago chasing it…it was annoying and it messed with my writer’s head too much, I know now what it takes and what kinds from which publications I have a better chance with, but it’s best to write from the heart, edit and give it a great title. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I believe you nailed it: too many factors that are random and you can’t control so we should each control our writing and do the best with what we can.
