I don’t hate Trump supporters or you or anyone for simply stating your opinion—
Once people act upon their opinion to hurt other human beings. I’m no longer on their side.
Trump supporters are demonstratively vocal (and by supporting policy already passed) with their disdain for anti-white, non Christian, immigrants, LBBTQ or anyone who is left leaning.
Evidence abounds!
Came back to the US after being gone for four years, and the tshirts, bumper stickers worn by Trump supporters here in Texas have such hateful, aggressive rhetoric—I would avoid any contact for my mere safety.
I’m nonwhite and a woman. Most of them would assume I’m an immigrant. I was and always will be. And —I’m a naturalized legitimate US citizen.
I do hate Trump’s policies and what he stands for: division. He’s a con artist and highly inept. Just for starters.
For now, being a liberal means: standing for the respect and acceptance of all human beings.
I can’t even afford to start talking reasonable —necessary political policies, because his party (which isn’t even close to the traditional Republican Party)—won’t acknowledge the rights of legitimate citizens.
If the basis of democracy doesn’t exist, which clearly you are for: well expressed in this piece, then we can’t discuss budget, freedoms, policy.
Your guy wanted to oust a legitimately democratically elected president. His will against the majority will.
Your guy is for fascism.
I lost my country to one who uses the same tactics as Trump—so it’s quite evident what Trump wants: total control while he infuses his supporters with fear that their rights are being taken away.
Frankly—you are very different to many Trump supporters who don’t and won’t have a factual dialogue.
To have an amicable, productive dialogue means we would need to agree on facts and reliable/objective sources of information—backed by legitimate journalists.
With those I’ve attempted to dialogue—we part ways with where we get our information. I rather read. I rather use a variety of sources. I rather look at numbers and patterns/statistics that give indication to whether a policy is aiding or not.
You approached this difficult topic respectfully. You seem quite open to dialogue. I applaud the effort and for reaching across the aisle. I dream we could go back to the days we discussed just the pros and cons of raising taxes. I wish we could go back to discuss which programs to cut.
But right now—Trump’s party makes concerted effort to make the right to vote non-accessible and un-available to ALL its citizens (we won’t even go into which party gerrymanders).
Right now, I’ve lost rights as a woman. Right now, my fellow human beings are attacked and have lost rights because they look different or love others Trump supporters say the Bible said these people shouldn't.
i don't want a theocracy.
I will first vote for life, liberty and freedom —that’s what voting for Biden means.
Trump is for none of those—oh yeah, only for when it suits him and those he likes or support him.
Damn everyone else.
THAT—is not a free country.
