I can picture my mom stopping me midway through my rapid sentence as a young teen and saying in a very slow and dramatic way:

Just two days ago I told my son (eldest)—

look I can’t let this continue any further I’ve got to help you but—you use “like” way too often. This needs to stop. At least be aware of whom you’re speaking to and there are instances where it’s bad son. You have to be mindful of your speech.

I think too many parents assume and hope school is the end all be all teacher of everything. But parents need to step up and help out where they are needed.
