Here's how I'm viewing it: is someone reading it bc they truly are interested in that "subject" based on the title and did it arouse their interest enough to where they are clicking it - rather than reading a 2 minute to click, highlight and clap and not read...

I think Medium is trying in every way it can to make sure no one is gaming this platform for earnings and wants readers who want and genuinely enjoy what they are reading.

Once they click on the story - it's there for them to see. No harm no foul if they leave - that's the nature of the beast and it's going to happen to everyone for different reasons. I don't think it will do harm to earnings in any significant way.
