Yes, I fully agree - just as by city and state in the US, the differences in Mexico are quite vast, as is its geographical size. Monterrey is the commercial capital of Mexico and is so close to the US - it has definitely influenced this area, including those who have grown up here in the recent 15 years when the city has literally grown exceptionally.
I will say, we have been warmly welcomed, we love it here and many do love their country. I hope this didn't come across as a generalization of Mexico - rather anecdotal, that certain conversations have saddened me to see how nationalism does creep in from both sides.
And yes, I agree with you - I'm well aware of the racism against blacks in the US...one of the main reasons why it was easy to leave. My husband is black.
