Fascinating discussion in the comment section-I read all of your replies.
I just went to look up the numbers of these NEET young folk—I wasn’t aware of this terminology nor some of the movements you described.
Each generation will surely make of this world what they feel they must—
of the three:
Educated, employed or trained—
I do beg— let’s not sacrifice education.
I don’t mean a formal education —the question is:
All of these who are part of a NEET movement—are they willing to read, investigate, understand and problem solve thinking critically?
We don’t need governments and universities to encourage our future generations to —read and think critically.
It’s one thing to revolt against a system that one believes to be unfair, inefficient or downright oppressive.
But at some point —you have to have problem solvers to have a democracy, protective freedoms and and a functioning society.
I wonder what happens to the psyche of many who decide to revolt and do nothing. What is accomplished?
It’s a rhetorical question and no doubt each will reap what they sow…
Our world is in deep trouble.
I respect and value that we all seek solutions in different ways—
….as for myself—I cannot—not do anything and wait. That will kill me.
20 or even 30 years goes by in an instant; youth can’t tell though. The one thing they have tons of—time.
The older we get the keener we are—life is but a moment. It’s too beautiful a thing to wait for others to fill it as we want it—
That’s my take…
But I’m learning and listening.
Thanks for the reflection🫶🏽✌🏽
