Excellent piece Mitch; for so long the US has stretched its empire - how convenient it was to look away at Saudi Arabia's violation of human rights and buddy up to them, but then bomb Iraq bc they decided, um, Saddam, no not so much. The double standards, and looking out for number 1 -- have huge ramifications.

I like your thoughts - I do too hope they will learn to compromise, negotiate with others' interests at heart - cooperate.

But without a strong democracy at home, so much is hanging by a thread.

Let's hope the American people vote with critical thought - we need the absolute best, thoughtful, informed and empathetic leaders - and it's all unclear for now.

I thought 2020 was a huge election...I think this year is bigger and even more so in 2024 - too much on the line.
