Excellent analysis Ellen! Here's my journey with TikTok: due to the challenges of a complicated move, quarantine and not knowing anyone, no work, and "waiting" -- complex processes with our move, I had the time to discover TikTok in 2021...it learned my interest: health, children, equality, music, fascinating ways to learn/teach, oh - and like home improvement stuff (decor or arts and craft)...

I can concur: most of it is completely forgotten and it's very much either inspiring, touching or entertaining for a moment. I was in a place in my life to where I clicked on once or twice a day and noticed over time I spent too much time and clicked away.

You make a valid point and it's been months that I have not gone on - and if I do, I love it that the algorithm knows to not show me nonsense. Believe it or not, ther are some ingenious and creative people who work hard to deliver value.

Frankly - I'm so tired of social media in general. I think that's part of the reason why I'm so in love with Medium - it's so educational, inspiring and to your awesome point: connections to names and people that actually stay with you. It's awesome!

Okay I got carried away! Thanks for this thought provoking article!
