Dear JoAnn, you’re smart, beautiful and strong—and I hope writing, professing and this ceremony all propel you to keep walking the road you’ve been on in the past: breaking the addiction.

I’ve been told by family and friends: it’s the strongest addiction there is.

You helped me reflect upon my addiction to certain sugars and how it’s held be back from being more healthy and losing the excess weight. Like I’m sure smokers know about lung cancer, I think of diabetes and the thought freaks me out.

But I’ll pick up that —just one more piece of dark chocolate.

Until Michele wrote about it, I started noticing his drinking is in every TV show. It’s insane how those cues are around us…
Everywhere I go—the sugar in drinks, foods—is everywhere too.

I think the point you made is: society is no help. Recognizing it for ourselves and doing it requires us to see the signals we fight day to day.
I’m cheering you on and look forward to the piece you’ll write celebrating your sobriety period—whatever it is:
One day, one week, one month, one year—

You got this!!! Thanks for trusting, encouraging and inspiring us💛💛💛
