AJ, let me try to sensitively share a suggestion. Your experiences from those three years can be many articles—don’t feel limited to take that one experience and place in 1-3 articles.
Rather take a particular moment and then flush it out with memoir writing—
Dialogue, imagery and description—taking your reader to that place.
It’s not easy to do and yes emotionally you may feel drained—but don’t limit that experience to feel it’s a one and done thing.
You can write so much material which can one day be a book…a memoir.
I understand some people don’t like memoir writing so it may not be your style or liking…
But if you’re open to learning about that kind of writing, read memoirs and give it some thought.
I do love it—but I myself need to spend some time reading more memoirs (books)—seeing what I like and don’t and getting a better feel for it.
It’s different to personal essays and I’m still learning to find my way to each.
Anyhow felt compelled to share that with you.
Just some food for thought! 🩵🩵
