Ever notice how we can often miss the sight of a bud and yet, when the tree blooms and its color pops right before our eyes — we can’t help but be surprised by its wonder and arrival?

The bloom of the relationship with my eldest son is transforming right before my eyes.

For a while, the budding of this transition was hidden and well-protected until recently, when I realized as a mother —the bud revealed its bloom and color. It was absolutely brilliant!

My eldest son of three boys has completed his fourth year of a 5-year engineering program.

He had somewhat of a crash-and-burn at the end of his first semester. I don’t know what his advisor was thinking when he told my son to take calculus, physics, chemistry, and engineering all in the first semester — but my son did NOT heed my warning.

I told him, “That course load is madness.”

He gave me the oh-mom-it’s-okay comment along with, “I have to do it this way.” Sadly, he…
