I’ve had a healthy mix of pleasant and not-so-pleasant surprises having moved to Mexico during the pandemic two years ago. This story is a pleasant surprise!

It turns out we moved to the commercial capital of Mexico — or rather of Central and South America. Monterrey’s success also lies in its proximity to the US border. As a result, the city has the presence of many thriving US companies — including Costco.

I’m a huge Costco fan — so I was quite surprised and happy to be able to continue to shop there.

During one of my early visits to the store back in 2020, I was strolling through the produce section, minding my own business — when all of a sudden I was shocked to see this.

OMG — they sell sorrel here!! [I was ecstatic — to say the least]

Okay — but hold up?!!

Flor de Jamaica were the words staring back at me which translate to “Jamaican flower”…hmm.
